So we have decided to convert to van life! This meant choosing the right vehicle, with sufficient tow capacity. This is unique for each individual and their circumstances. For us, we chose to purchase the LDV-90 SUV 4WD.
The LDV-90 suited our towing capacity, and was at a price we could afford. When choosing this vehicle, we considered the places we were wanting to see. We also considered the boot size and height, which were both ample on the LDV-90. We needed to be able to have enough road clearance, as a normal vehicle wouldn't suffice. We also required a tow bar and anderson plug connections, which we had installed on our LDV90. We chose to have power connections in the back (usb, 240 and cigarette). This enables us to charge a portable power supply whilst driving. The LDV-90 enables us to easily install a bull bar, lights and/or winch, if required, later on.
Of course, this is just our requirements, and yours will be different. We recommend to start simple, then upgrade, if need be.
